Vacuum Brake Conversion.

When the Powermaster started shooting fluid out the back of the motor area, we decided to swap over to vacuum brakes rather than mess around with it. New Powermaster system: $600 vs. new vac. booster and master cylinder from Napa: $195 – 86 Monte brake pedal $5 from u-pull, and a couple more bucks for some vac. line. So 200 instead of 600 dollars later it brakes better than ever.

Goodbye 1946.

The Holley 350 carb is on, and already all of the 1946’s problems are gone. It idles good, runs smooth, starts when cold, doesn’t boil over, and doesn’t hesitate.

Some other things I had to do:
* 82 Mustang hood scoop
— chopped a hole in the hood for clearance, using the scoop backward as a cowl
* had to pound on the air cleaner base for choke linkage clearance
* manual choke cable & custom bracket
* tapped & plugged 2 extra holes in carb adapter w/ set screws
* solid accelerator pump linkage (10-24 bolt & 2 nuts)
— spring with stock bolt/linkage was too weak and caused bad hesitation & stalling
* Mustang EFI throttle cable
— throttle bracket on 2300 is on the opposite side of 1946, so stock cable was too short
* fishing weights (spacers for throttle cable at pedal)
— pedal was on the floor with the new cable, clamping some fishing weights on took up the slack, also had to shrink wrap around them or they fell off with use eventually
* custom throttle bracket
* throttle return spring, ace hardware
* custom return spring bracket
* Holley pump cam kit/assortment
* had to bend pump cam arm
— was bottoming out on main body, leaving slack between it and cam and causing hesitation
* drilled out #53 main jet to about a #56 to cure detonation
